The project is progressing well – as can be seen in this picture.  Books are now being delivered to 10 schools on the road between Domboshawa and Bindura with a total population of 5,000 pupils now benefiting.

This picture was taken in Chigiji Primary School.  Gilbert and Thomas have just delivered 30 books which Lloyd Mugari and other teachers were able to use with children the next day.  Chigiji School is linked with High Down Juniors, Portishead.

The latest developments are listed below

  • Progress with building: laying floors, plastering walls and glazing windows are following on after the thatching
  • Management of project: an enlarged and new committee has been formed.  The Chair is Kasenza Shambira (Head of Kraal), the Secretary is Steven Masango (Councillor, Bindura District Council), the Treasurer is Dominic Mandere (Spiritual Leader).  Other members include Mr Boiwa, Head Teacher and other community members
  • New books provided: 1,500 books have been sent from Bristol in August   - thank you all those schools which have donated materials.  80 new books have been purchased in bookshops in Harare by teachers and community members working together.  8 new books have been written about the project, using photographs and materials from the website

    Who we are
    So we tell
    We are Zambuko
    Mighty, mighty Zambuko
    Yea
